About the Redevelopment Area
On Tues., June 18, 2024, Town Council approved the Northwest Gilbert Redevelopment Area Boundary with the adoption of Resolution No. 4487. Pursuant to the requirements of A.R.S. §36-1473, this measure designates a redevelopment area in the municipality and declares the necessity of redevelopment. The extensive community feedback and data gathered and presented to Town Council supports the redevelopment area boundary extending from Arizona Avenue to Lindsay Road and Baseline Road to Ray Road, to foster a prosperous community, strong economy, and an exceptional built environment.
Gilbert Northwest represents approximately 18% of Gilbert's total land area, yet it contains 37% of the town's jobs and nearly 60% of its properties 40 years or older. Over the past decade, the Town has been actively monitoring conditions in this area and collecting data to determine the right time for a coordinated reinvestment effort. That time is now.
The Redevelopment Plan now being developed will identify goals, strategies, and implementation measures over a 10-year period, with a focus on infrastructure improvements, economic resilience, and community wellbeing.
The planning area extends from Arizona Avenue east to Lindsay Road and from Baseline Road south to Ray Road, excluding properties within the Heritage District. View the map below.
